Annotatsiya

The article presents the results of a computational experiment to assess the influence of the longitudinal track profile category on traction electricity consumption, specific energy consumption, and the permissible mass of a freight train. The study was performed on three virtual 30 km long sections: flat, hilly, and mountainous. Calculations were carried out in the KORTES software package for fixed train masses of 3730, 3243, and 2833 t, as well as in the author-developed LESOV003 program with automatic formation of the permissible train consist based on the length of receiving-departure tracks and starting conditions. It was established that an increase in profile complexity leads to a steady rise in energy consumption: according to KORTES data, at a mass of 3730 t, energy consumption increases from 539.8 to 1135.5 and 1447.5 kWh, while according to LESOV003 data, specific energy consumption increases from 6.63 to 10.73 and 14.4 conventional units.
