Annotatsiya

This article is devoted to the study of the history of the emergence and development of the institution of investigative judge in various legal systems. The prerequisites for its emergence, the evolution of functions and powers, as well as the influence of social and political factors on the formation of judicial control over the investigation are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the development of the institution in the continental legal system, its role in ensuring the protection of individual rights and the legality of criminal proceedings. The key stages of the formation of the investigative judge in Europe, including France, Germany and other countries, are considered. A conclusion is made about the significance of this institution in the modern legal system and the prospects for its improvement.
