This article explores the complex process of translating metonymy in science television programs, highlighting the challenges and strategies used by translators. It examines how metonymic expressions, which often rely on cultural and contextual nuances, can affect listeners’ understanding of scientific concepts. Through a detailed analysis of various case studies, the article aims to highlight the importance of preserving the original intent and clarity of scientific communication and adapting it for different audiences. The results suggest that effective translation not only enhances audience engagement but also contributes to a deeper appreciation of scientific discourse in popular media.
