Geographical indicators play an important role in the intellectual property system, as they can be key elements in determining the origin of products, goods and services. Geographical information can be used to protect brands, trademarks, inventions and other intellectual property from illegal use or counterfeiting. This article examines the role of geographical indications in the intellectual property system, their importance in protecting innovation, goods and services, as well as the challenges and issues faced by owners of geographical indications. It also describes the Geographical Information Legislation in different countries and international agreements aimed at protecting geographical indications. The study allows to understand the importance of taking into account geographical information in the system of intellectual property objects, as well as the need to improve legislation and cooperation at the international level for the effective protection of geographical indications.
