This article describes in detail the introduction of mandatory community service punishment into the criminal punishment system of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the concept of punishment, and its role in the punishment system. At the same time, the procedure for applying this type of punishment to minors, issues related to the existence of grounds for applying the punishment, and crime statistics were analyzed.
