This article focuses on the early detection and prevention of refractive errors in preschool children. Modern diagnostic methods, including automated refractometry, photoscreening, and digital technologies, are reviewed. Risk factors such as genetic predisposition, environmental conditions, and visual strain are analyzed. The prospects for implementing screening programs in primary healthcare and effective preventive measures are discussed. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach involving ophthalmologists, pediatricians, educators, and parents is emphasized.
