This scientific article examines the role of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) in the early detection and prevention of eye diseases. OCT is a non-invasive (without surgical intervention into tissues) high-resolution diagnostic method that enables imaging of the retina and the optic nerve (nervus opticus) structures at the micron level. During the study, the preventive significance of major diseases detectable by OCT glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration was analyzed. The results demonstrated that OCT has high sensitivity in detecting pathological changes at the subclinical stage (before clinical symptoms appear).
