MODERN DIAGNOSTICS OF BRUCELLOSIS

Brucellosis is a zoonotic infectious disease caused by gram-negative bacteria of the genus Brucella, affecting both humans and animals. This article analyzes modern laboratory diagnostic methods, their sensitivity, specificity, and clinical application. A total of 172 hospitalized patients from 2021 to 2024 were studied based on age, gender, and clinical features. Diagnosis was performed using blood culture, Rose Bengal test (RBT), standard agglutination test (SAT), Coombs gel test (CGT), ELISA, and PCR. The clinical significance of modern blood culture systems, MALDI-TOF, and molecular methods was evaluated. The results showed that the combined use of multiple methods improves diagnostic accuracy. The highest sensitivity was observed in ELISA and RBT (89.4% and 88.3%, respectively), while blood culture remains the gold standard. Diagnostic algorithms were analyzed, and challenges of early diagnosis in endemic regions along with possible solutions were discussed.
