Annotatsiya

This thesis presents a caveat when comparing Uzbek and English tongue twisters: it analyzes the possibility that articulatory difficulties that are central to one language may not be as pronounced in the other. While “Red lorry, yellow lorry” is difficult for an English speaker because of the /r-l/ difference, an Uzbek speaker perceives this difference based on a different articulatory habit, while “Qobil qozonda qovurdoq qovurdi” may be more difficult for an English speaker because of the /q/ and /gʻ/.
