Annotatsiya

Our Anglo-Saxon forebears would have been surprised to see the development ofthese new languages, which had evolved from the Latin they knew. They would havewitnessed the emergence of Old French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian, amongothers. They would have seen the rise of English as a dominant language in Britain, as well asthe spread of Germanic languages throughout northern Europe.
