This article examines the historical roots of the Uzbek language based on ancient Turkic written sources. Uzbek belongs to the Karluk branch of the Turkic language family, and its development was significantly influenced by Old Turkic, Classical Turkic literary traditions, and the Chagatai language. The study analyzes the phonetic, lexical, and grammatical features of major written monuments such as the Orkhon-Enisei inscriptions, Uyghur manuscripts, "Dīwān Lughāt al-Turk", and "Kutadgu Bilig". The findings reveal that many linguistic elements of Old Turkic have been preserved in modern Uzbek. The research also demonstrates that the historical evolution of Uzbek is closely connected with the cultural and political development of Turkic peoples.
