This article discusses modern concepts of cerebral palsy (CP) as a chronic neurological disorder resulting from brain damage during the early stages of a child’s development. The main etiological factors, pathogenetic mechanisms, clinical forms, and contemporary methods of diagnosis and treatment of cerebral palsy are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to intrauterine, perinatal, and postnatal causes of the disease, as well as issues of early diagnosis and comprehensive rehabilitation. Data from the World Health Organization on the most common risk factors are presented. The necessity of a multidisciplinary approach to the treatment and social adaptation of children with cerebral palsy is emphasized.
