This article provides a detailed analysis of the concept of complex numbers, their algebraic, trigonometric and exponential (Euler) forms, as well as the basic operations performed on them — addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponentiation and root extraction. The geometric interpretation of complex numbers by means of the complex plane (Gauss plane), De Moivre’s formula and applications of Euler’s formula are considered. Using the methods of theoretical analysis, comparison and problem solving, the theory of complex numbers is described as an integrated system. The obtained results show that the theory of complex numbers can be effectively applied both in teaching within higher education and in solving practical problems in the fields of engineering, physics and technology.
