This article is aimed at studying the basics of philological research. Important aspects of scientific research in the field of philology, linguistics, literary studies and cultural studies are presented. The article examines the interrelationships between various branches of philology, methodological approaches, research methods and scientific developments. A deep study of the basics of philological research will help students and researchers better understand the theoretical and practical aspects of the field. The article also presents ideas about the modern development directions of philological science, the interaction of language and culture, and the need to use new methods in literary studies
