A local area network (LAN) is a computer network built within a limited area, such as an office, school, or home, that provides fast and secure data exchange between devices. LANs are organized using wired or wireless communication media and have various construction methods. Their main topologies are bus, star, ring, mesh, and tree topologies. LANs use devices such as switches, routers, servers, and workstations to build them. These networks are an effective solution for small and medium-sized organizations.
