This article examines the development of economic relations between the Khanate of Khiva and Russian empire in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the entry of railways and Russian banks into the territory of the khanate and, as a result, the country's transformation into a raw material base. In the article, the economy of the Khanate of Khiva, the system of crediting and provisioning, and the processes of cultivation of the American cotton variety are thoroughly studied.
