Karl Yakovlevich Reichel, a well-known researcher of Russian folklore and ethnographer, had a great influence on the study of Karakalpak culture and folklore. His works are devoted to a deep analysis of the situation of the Karakalpak people. Karakalpak folklore explains the wonderful world of rich traditions, legends, fairy tales and songs that Karl Yakovlevich Reichel learned himself. In this article we will look at the life and work of Karl Yakovlevich Reichel, his contribution to the study of Karakalpak folklore, and the unique features of this folklore.
