Annotatsiya

The article discusses the technology of cultivation of one of the varieties of the sorghum species – fodder sorghum, the Ros variety. The West Kazakhstan region is located in a zone of risky agriculture and has a sharply continental climate: there is little precipitation in the summer, and the temperature is mostly high. In such climatic conditions, the need for cultivation of crops resistant to drought and lack of productive moisture increases. Such a crop is fodder sorghum. In addition to the drought resistance of sorghum, this crop is also unpretentious to soils and can grow without choosing a precursor and soil type. The Ros variety belongs to the forage sorghum and is adapted to our climatic conditions. The only condition for cultivating sorghum is mandatory pre-sowing tillage to destroy weeds and create optimal conditions for the formation of a powerful root system of the crop, reaching almost 4 meters in depth. The timing of sowing also plays an important role in the cultivation of crops. Sowing is carried out when the soil is warmed up to 12-140C, therefore, sowing was carried out on May 12-15, 2023, the sowing method is wide–row with row spacing – 45 cm. The growing season was 102 days.
