In the context of the rapid development of digital technologies and changing ways ofobtaining information, libraries are faced with the need to transform their functions and services.Traditionally, libraries have been associated with book repositories, knowledge and information centersproviding access to printed and multimedia resources. However, the digital age poses new challenges andopportunities for them, requiring adaptation to the needs of the modern user. On the one hand, the rapiddevelopment of the Internet, access to online resources and the popularization of digital media have led to achange in the format of information consumption. On the other hand, libraries remain important cultural andeducational institutions capable of offering unique services that are difficult to reproduce in a virtual space.In this regard, the question of what role libraries should take in the new conditions becomes important.: howcan they transform and adapt to a changing world while remaining a source of knowledge and a place ofsocial interaction. In this article, we will look at the historical context of changes in librarianship, analyze theprocesses of adaptation of libraries to digital conditions.
