Annotatsiya
A morphological study of the testes obtained from female rats under experimental conditions showed that in the testes of 60-day-old offspring born from female rats with experimentally induced hypothyroidism, tubules with destruction and loss of spermatogenic cells were observed against the background of relatively preserved seminiferous tubules. Hypothyroidism in female rats was induced by oral administration of the antithyroid drug mercazolil at a dose of 0.5 mg per 100 g of body weight for 21 days. Hypothyroidism induced in female rats before pregnancy and persisting during pregnancy and lactation led to significant structural changes both in the developing germ cells and in Sertoli and Leydig cells of the testes of their offspring. All this indicates that maternal hypothyroidism not only disrupts spermatogenesis in the offspring but also causes significant changes in the production of steroid hormones in the testes.
