Directions for improving Uzbekistanʼs position in international gender indices
Samandar Maxmarejabovich, Egamberdiyev
Аннотация
This article analyzes Uzbekistan’s position in international gender indices based on the decomposition of indicators. The study compares international measurement systems such as the Global Gender Gap Index, Gender Inequality Index, Women, Business and the Law, Women, Peace and Security Index, SDG Gender Index, and Social Institutions and Gender Index. While Uzbekistan has achieved some positive results in education, legal reforms, and political representation, systemic weaknesses remain in the areas of women’s economic activity, labor market share, financial inclusion, the home care economy, enforcement mechanisms against gender-based violence, and gender statistics. Therefore, achieving a stable indicator in international indices requires not separate legislative reforms, but a comprehensive package of policy measures based on indicators. The article discusses the development of an impact model based on the chain “legal reforms – institutional mechanisms – budget and services – transformation of social norms - real result indicators - improvement in international indices”.
