There are many opinions, assumptions, hypotheses, facts and arguments that reveal the social and philosophical essence of the formation of an individual. However, not all of them are formed on a scientific platform. This article investigates the problem from a scientific point of view and from the correct theoretical and methodological point of view. There are objective and subjective determinants that affect the process of personality formation. Today, the identification and study of specific aspects of objective and subjective determinants that affect the formation of personality becomes an urgent socio-philosophical problem. The article analyzes the social environment as one of the important determinants of personality formation. The direct and indirect effects of the social environment, which serves as an objective condition for the formation of a person's personality, are described. The role of economic foundations, political and legal foundations, social foundations, cultural foundations of the social environment in the formation and development of personality is analyzed.
