Mathematical Modeling of the Flow of a Low-Concentration Fluid through a Porous Layer of a Cylindrical Filter

Annotatsiya
The article presents a comprehensive mathematical model of radial filtration in a cylindrical filter, where the fluid flows from the outer layer toward the central cavity. The regions of free flow are described by the Navier-Stokes equations for an incompressible fluid, while flow through the porous layer is formulated based on Darcy’s law. The pressure distribution is determined by solving the Poisson equation, and the transport of dissolved substances is modeled using the advection-diffusion equation. The model incorporates a time-dependent porosity evolution mechanism, enabling the analysis of the coupled dynamics of pressure, velocity, porosity, and concentration. It is noteworthy that accounting for the vertical orientation of the cylindrical filter plays an important role, contributing to reduced energy consumption and improved selectivity of the filtration process.
