Аннотация
The great Uzbek poet Alisher Navoi (1441-1501), during his lifetime, was widely known not only in his homeland, but also far beyond its borders. A contemporary and biographer of Navoi, the famous historian Khondamir, of course, not without some hyperbole, wrote: "He (Navoi - M.Kh.) in a short time took away the cane of primacy from his peers; the fame of his talents spread to all ends of the world, and innumerable there were stories about the firmness of his noble mind from mouth to mouth. The pearls of his poetry adorned the leaves of the book of destinies, the precious stones of his poetry filled the shells of the universe with pearls of beauty "[Khondamir 1940: 180]. Navoi himself in the poem "Farhad and Shirin" proudly wrote that "to capture countries he sent not troops, but his works, which won the hearts of the people of these countries ..." [Navoi 1968: 385]. Indeed, Navoi was the founder of the classical (Renaissance style) poetry in the ancient Uzbek ("Chagatai") language. This same creation of a large classical literature in the vernacular was one of the greatest achievements of Western Europe during the Renaissance. By the way, the founders and theorists of the new Renaissance literature Dante, R. Bacon, E. Dolet, Du Bellay, M. Luther, and others have repeatedly defended classical literature in the popular language. Alisher Navoi also spoke out in defense of Uzbek literature.
