Annotatsiya

This article presents a detailed analysis of the operating modes and diagnostics of IGBT power switches used in the control systems of asynchronous drives for AC electric locomotives. The study focuses on modern electric locomotives operating on Uzbekistan's railways, where such systems face significant load demands and extreme climatic conditions. The article explores the primary causes of power switch failures, including current and thermal overloads, overvoltage conditions, short circuits, and cooling system failures. Based on data collected over a decade from the operation of 98 electric locomotives, the authors identified 576 cases of IGBT switch failures, highlighting a high failure rate and increased operational risks. Within this research, diagnostic methods and failure classification systems were developed, and key defect types that reduce the reliability and performance of control systems were identified. Given the critical nature of these failures for ensuring safe transportation and operational cost efficiency, the article provides recommendations to enhance the reliability of IGBT switches. The authors propose specific methods for thermal protection and condition monitoring, utilizing Hall effect-based temperature sensors and inductive current meters. The study emphasizes the importance of diagnostic systems that enable timely identification and resolution of potential malfunctions. The findings can be used to optimize control systems and improve the efficiency of asynchronous drives under high-load conditions and challenging climatic environments. Thus, the article makes a significant contribution to advancing electric drive control technologies, enhancing safety, and reducing operating costs.
