The oil and gas sector remains a fundamental pillar of the global economy, providing energy andessential resources for modern society. However, some core activities in this industry may present challenges infully aligning with the principles of sustainable development and environmental responsibility. This article examinesthe relationship between economic growth and ecological protection in the oil and gas sector by analyzing keyenvironmental challenges, recent technological innovations, and the critical role of policy and corporate socialresponsibility. The discussion indicates that exploration, production, and processing activities may have notableenvironmental impacts and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions, while also highlighting emerging solutionssuch as cleaner extraction methods, carbon capture and storage, enhanced oil recovery techniques, and theintegration of renewable energy. The article concludes that achieving a practical balance requires coordinatedefforts by governments, companies, and civil society, as well as the transparent and accountable implementationof sustainability strategies.
