This article examines key environmental challenges associated withexploration, production and processing, including habitat degradation, pollution and greenhouse gasemissions, and analyzes technological, policy and corporate responses aimed at mitigating these impacts.Particular attention is given to innovations such as carbon capture and storage, enhanced oil recovery, theintegration of renewable energy, regulatory and fiscal policy frameworks, and the evolving role of corporatesocial responsibility. By synthesizing recent academic and policy literature, the study identifies majorobstacles and promising pathways for aligning oil and gas operations with longterm sustainability goals.
