The article presents an analysis of the research materials of T. A. Zhdanko within the framework of the Khorezm archaeological and ethnographic expedition of 1945-1954. Although the expedition was devoted to a comprehensive ethnographic study of material culture, it managed to record and make sketches and photographs of household items, where artistic data were reflected. Therefore, all found items are stored in museums: clothes, carpets, yurt patterns, tools, wood products and others, which became the basis for describing the factual material in this article. The main part of the work focuses on the classification of the Karakalpak ornament. In general, the applied arts and ornamentation of the Karakalpaks were closely connected with handicrafts.
