In this article, the Congolese’s struggle for national independence from Belgium, the activities of the former Soviet Union in this process, the UN and African countries’ reactions to the political processes in the Congo. Opinions about the support of the separatists in the Congo by the USA and the West, the opposition of the people of Uzbekistan to these actions, the establishment of the pro- Western Mobutu dictatorship in the Congo, and the cooling of the USSR-Congo relations are highlighted on the basis of historical literature and materials from the periodical press.
