THE IMPACT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ON STUDENTS’ MOTIVATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies has significantly changed and improved educational systems , especially in the field of foreign language learning. This article reveal the impact of artificial intelligence on students’ motivation in learning the English language . The research explores how AI-powered tools influence learners’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. In this study we use mixed-method approach involving questionnaires, classroom observations, and interviews with university students learning English. The findings indicate that AI-based learning environments increase students’ engagement, confidence, autonomy, and willingness to participate in English learning activities. Moreover, AI tools provide personalized feedback, immediate correction, and flexible learning opportunities that positively affect learners’ motivation. However, certain limitations such as overdependence on technology, reduced human interaction, and unequal access to digital resources were also identified. The study concludes that Artificial Intelligence can serve as an effective motivational instrument in EFL education when integrated appropriately into pedagogical practice.
