Based on archive data, the paper highlights the forcing of historical traditional livestock culture into the frameworks of the Soviet planned economy and the struggles to preserve the gene pool of the native Karabair horse breed. Using a comparative-historical method, the financial and economic accounting results of state horse-breeding centers in Jizzakh, Tashkent, and Khorezm regions at the end of the Soviet era are revealed.
