THE CONCEPT OF THE “MIGRATORY MOTIF” IN THE STUDY OF UZBEK FOLK EPICS: THEORETICAL APPROACHES AND METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS

This article analyses the theoretical and methodological foundations of the concept of the “wandering motif” in the study of Uzbek folk epics, its methodological features and practical application. The aim of the study is to reveal the theoretical foundations and methodological problems of the “wandering motif” concept in the research of Uzbek folk epics, and to comparatively analyse the approaches of various world folklore schools to this concept. The object of the article is Uzbek folk epics and the wandering motifs in them; the subject is the theoretical and methodological foundations of the “wandering motif” concept in folklore studies. The research employed comparative-typological analysis, source-study approach and structural analysis methods. As a result of the analysis, the invariant and variant features of wandering motifs in Uzbek epics were identified, and five main methodological problems in their study were classified. The scientific novelty lies in the fact that, for the first time in Uzbek folklore studies, the methodological problems specific to the wandering motif are systematically classified in tabular form, with clear solutions proposed for each problem; additionally, a practical model of the joint application of C. G. Jung’s archetype theory and the historical-comparative method is presented. In conclusion, the proper study of the wandering motif requires a complex methodological approach based on the unity of historical-comparative, comparative-typological, archetypal and source-study methods.
