This article highlights the significance of Abu Bakr Narshakhi’s work «History of Bukhara» as a historical source. It analyzes important information about the socio-economic life, culture, trade, and topography of Bukhara and its surroundings. Also, the role of the work in the study of the history of the Samanid and Karakhanid periods and the aspects related to the history of Karmana are shown. The article also reveals the scientific and pedagogical significance of using «History of Bukhara» in history and world history lessons. As a result of the research, it is substantiated that this work is highly valued as a rare written heritage of Central Asian historiography.
