In Maverannahr, the Science of Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis) developed a unique trajectory. Mahmud Zamakhshari's work "Al-Kashshaf" gained renown as a seminal philological interpretation within the Islamic world. From the 12th-13th centuries onward, scholars across various Muslim regions exhibited growing interest in this book. Consequently, mufassirs (Qur'anic commentators) produced approximately a hundred commentaries, marginalia, and summaries, many of which have been preserved to this day. These invaluable sources constitute a significant resource for studying the history of Tafsir.
