FEATURES OF IMPOSING CRIMINAL PENALTIES NOT INVOLVING ISOLATION FROM SOCIETY

The article presents the author's reflections on certain aspects of imposing criminal penalties that donot involve isolation from society. In particular, it is emphasized that in the context of applying severepunitive measures, there is a noticeable degradation of moral values both among individuals subjectedto punishment and among those responsible for executing such punishments. Moreover, the lifestyleof convicted persons becomes increasingly harsh and coarse. At present, it is evident that reliance onsevere punitive measures in combating crime does not yield the anticipated results. Therefore, in thecriminal law policy of our country, special attention is being paid to the imposition of penalties thatdo not involve deprivation of liberty. By examining this issue, the author concludes that theincorporation of proposals and recommendations regarding the system of criminal penalties notinvolving isolation from society, as well as the peculiarities of their imposition, into the legislationwill contribute to advancing reforms in this area to a new level.
