Annotatsiya

The educational phenomenon is very important not only in personal education, but also in the formation of national identity. This clearly manifested itself in the Turkestan region at the early of the 20th century, when local educators tried to start reorganizing the educational process. This paper is devoted to the analysis of the activities of the enlighteners of Turkestan. In particular, issues such as difficulties in organizing new-method schools, the textbooks used and the confrontation between the national intelligentsia and the state are considered.
