This article examines the mechanisms of consumer lending by U.S. commercial banks, including revolving andnon-revolving credit instruments, as well as modern approaches to optimizing the lending process. The study analyzes thedynamics of the consumer credit market, the impact of interest rates and macroeconomic factors on lending volumes, andthe role of consumer credit in household financial behavior. Particular attention is paid to creditworthiness assessmentthrough scoring systems, the functioning of credit bureaus, and the use of digital technologies to mitigate credit risk.Based on the U.S. experience, key challenges in consumer lending are identified, and practical recommendations forimproving credit risk management and sustainable lending practices are proposed
