Annotatsiya

This article presents information on the history of archaeological investigations carried out at the Ilonsoy burial mounds located in the middle reaches of the Zarafshan River, as well as on the excavations conducted in recent еars and the results achieved. Archaeological research conducted in the Karatepa mountain system, situated in the southern part of Central Sogd, indicates that nomadic pastoralist communities once inhabited this area. Recent studies have led to the discovery of new archaeological sites and burial mounds, which have been subjected to scientific analysis. The archaeological exploration of the Ilonsoy burial mounds has provided new scholarly data regarding the historical development and settlement processes of the region.
