Stroke (late Latin insults – attack) – this is an acute vascular catastrophe of the brain. In recent years, there has been an increase in the prevalence of vascular diseases, including acute cerebrovascular accident. Annually about 6 million people suffer a stroke. There is an increase in the prevalence of stroke in people of working age - before the age of 65. According to international epidemiological studies, 4,7 million people die from stroke worldwide every year. The frequency for strokes in able-bodied persons of age 25–65 is 2,5–3 for the urban population , and for the rural population 1,9 to 1000. Stroke ranks first as a cause of permanent disability. Thus, cerebral stroke is a problem of extremely medical and social importance.
