DISTINCTIVE FEATURES OF CLINICAL AND SEMIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS IN PATIENTS WITH MESIAL TEMPORAL LOBE EPILEPSY WITH HIPPOCAMPAL SCLEROSIS

The study involved 88 participants: the main group consisted of 30 patients diagnosed with MTLE-HS, the comparison group included 36 patients with other types of epilepsy, and the control group comprised 22 healthy individuals. A comparative analysis of clinical signs in patients revealed the following characteristics specific to MTLE-HS: presence of IPE in the medical history, relatively early age of first seizure onset, seizures accompanied by aura and autonomic symptoms, with automatisms predominating over motor movements, ictal speech arrest, versive movements, and unilateral dystonia. These were identified as diagnostically significant signs in determining the lateralization of the seizure focus. Patients with MTLE-HS demonstrated lower MoCA scores compared to the comparison group and exhibited higher levels of anxiety on the HADS scale.
