DISABILITY AS A SOCIAL PHENOMENON

In this article, the phenomenon of disability is studied from the perspective of the works of T.Parsons, I.Hoffmann, M.Foucault, E.R.Yarskaya-Smirnova, E.Kholostova, an analysis of the formed disability models developed by V.Wolfensberg is considered, and their effect in modern society on socialization of persons with disabilities, based on the Western and Eastern worldview. Most models of disability are focused on the need for people with disabilities in constant outside care, it is considered as an object of pity in creating special measures and specialized conditions. In these models, complete isolation from social life can be traced in both educational and labor spheres. It was also found that today the international classification of functioning of disability and health is based on two opposite models – medical, social and uses a biopsychosocial approach, considering various aspects of health from the biological, personal and social positions.
