THE ROLE OF RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS IN SHAPING PUBLIC OPINION ON FOREIGN POLICY

Religion has political significance, acting as an instrument for the legitimization of power, the formation of social values, and the regulation of relations between the state and society. The article analyses religion as a social institution used by the state as a means of establishing order in society and shaping public opinion on foreign policy, while also examining the nature of relations between the state and religion. The study is conducted through the prism of the theories of well-known sociologists P. Bourdieu and É.Durkheim. Field research was carried out and legislation was analysed in order to understand and explain the interaction between the state and religious institutions.
