FACTORS INFLUENCING THE MILITARY-PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION OF YOUTH

Аннотация

This article provides a comprehensive sociological analysis of the factors shaping the military-professional orientation of youth in Uzbekistan. The study conceptualizes this process not as an outcome of individual choice or a single determinant, but as a multi-layered social mechanism emerging from the interaction of key social institutions, including family, community (mahalla), educational system, mass media, digital platforms, and state security policy. The research emphasizes the formation of cultural, social, and symbolic capital and examines the determinants influencing youth professional choices at micro, meso, and macro levels. The methodological framework is grounded in Pierre Bourdieu’s theory of social practice and Ulrich Beck’s concept of the “risk society,” enabling a deeper understanding of military-professional orientation within the context of a transforming society. The findings demonstrate that youth attitudes toward military service and their professional identity are shaped through an institutional chain model, where interconnected social structures play a decisive role. The military profession is interpreted not merely as and occupation, but as a socially significant mission associated with ensuring national security and societal stability.
