LINGUOCULTUROLOGICAL STUDY OF THE NOVEL “OʻTKAN KUNLAR” AND ITS’ TRANSLATION VERSIONS INTO THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

The paper focuses on the linguoculturological study of the translation versions of the uzbek novel “Oʻtkan kunlar”. The novel was translated into English for several times. This article is devoted to a comprehensive study of the issues of linguoculturological and cognitive study of the translation through the analysis of Uzbek language units that are taken from the book of “Oʻtkan kunlar” by Abdullah Qadiriy and to reveal how the translators overcome the difficulties encountered in its translation while translating linguocultural texts into the English language. “Oʻtkan kunlar” was translated by Carol Ermakova as “Abdulla Qadiri. Days gone by” and this edition was published by the French publishing house Nouveau Monde Editions. Mark Reese translated the novel as “Oʻtkan kunlar (Bygone days) by Abdullah Qodiriy” and this edition was published by Muloqot Cultural Engagement Program. At this point, we express our deep gratitude to the translators for providing us with the translations of such a great work into English. Nowadays, the translation versions are researched in comparative literature, comparative linguistics and translation studies. Comparative study of their translations is also important for future translators. And this article also may be useful for the researchers who are searching new information in the field of the comparative analysis of the linguoculturemes. Because it argues the problems of translating linguocultural units. In fact, “Oʻtkan kunlar” discloses the history of the uzbek traditions and customs, lifestyle, characters of the personages. The article explains the linguocultural analysis of the culture-specific items which are specific to the uzbek culture.
