Abstract
The article highlights the ecological and practical significance of assessing the current state of populations of the medicinal plant Glycyrrhiza glabra L. (licorice), whose natural raw material resources are declining. During the studies conducted in the Syrdarya region, the density, frequency of occurrence, projective cover, and biomass of the coenopopulations were determined using transect and sampling plot (1–10 м²) methods, and a detailed geobotanical description was compiled. Based on laboratory analyses, the moisture content and salinity levels of the soils where the plant phytocoenoses form were evaluated. The results obtained serve as a scientific basis for developing strategies for the conservation, restoration, and sustainable (rational) use of the natural resources of Glycyrrhiza glabra L.
