Abstract
This study determined the total alkaloid content of Vinca major and Vinca minor using a spectrophotometric method. Plant extracts were obtained using 70% ethanol in an ultrasonic water bath. Alkaloid content was determined by a UV-spectrophotometric method based on bromocresol green. The highest alkaloid content was recorded in the Vinca major sample, amounting to 1.414%. The results confirm the potential of Vinca species as sources of biologically active compounds and promising medicinal plant raw materials.
