This study investigated the feasibility of artificial reproduction of northern snakehead (Channa argus) under the conditions of Uzbekistan and evaluated its primary reproductive characteristics. The experiments were conducted in June 2026 at the Selection and Breeding Laboratory of the Research Institute of Fisheries. A total of six mature females and four mature males were used as broodstock. Hormonal stimulation was performed using acetone-dried carp pituitary extract. Females received 3.5 mg/kg body weight, while males received 1.5 mg/kg body weight. Ovulation in females was observed 48–72 hours after pituitary injection. The average egg weight was 5.45±0.13 mg, and the average egg diameter was 1.85±0.15 mm. Absolute fecundity averaged 23,945±2,798 eggs, while relative fecundity reached 7,954±392 eggs/kg body weight. The gonadosomatic index (GSI) was 4.33±0.21%. Embryonic development lasted approximately 48 hours. The average length and weight of two-day-old larvae were 6.30±0.45 mm and 4.13±0.024 mg, respectively. The hatching rate reached 8.86%. The obtained results demonstrate the feasibility of artificial reproduction of Channa argus under the environmental conditions of Uzbekistan. However, additional studies are required to improve the efficiency of obtaining sperm from male broodstock and to optimize egg incubation conditions.
