Аннотация
This article explores the literary and historical image of Emir Timur (Tamerlane) as presented in T. Vasilchenko’s book Emir Timur: History, Personality, Time. The study compares the artistic reconstruction of Timur’s character with classical sources such as Sharaf ad-Din Ali Yazdi’s Zafar-name and modern historiography. Special attention is paid to the duality of Timur’s image—as both a ruthless conqueror and an enlightened patron of science and culture. The research also considers the cultural role of literary representations of Timur and their function in shaping historical memory in Central Asia. A methodological framework is applied to assess the transformation of historical facts into literary narrative, with emphasis on the emotional and ideological layers embedded in the text.
