Annotaciya
The article examines gender differences in the semantics of family relations based on Russian and English proverbs. Proverbs are analysed as stable linguistic units that reflect national-cultural values, social norms, and traditional ideas about the roles of men and women in the family. The relevance of the research is determined by the anthropocentric orientation of modern linguistics and the increased interest in gender problems in language, as well as the need for a comparative study of various linguistic pictures of the world. The focus is on the semantic models of representation of the images of husband, wife, man, and woman, as well as gender stereotypes fixed in the paremiological fund of the Russian and English languages. Comparative analysis allows for the identification of both universal features of understanding family relations and nationally specific characteristics determined by cultural and historical factors. The research employs descriptive, linguistic, and comparative analysis methods. The research material served as Russian and English proverbs about family relationships, selected through a comprehensive selection method from authoritative paremiological dictionaries. The obtained results can be used in courses on linguoculturology, paremiology, and gender linguistics.
