ARTISTIC AND FUNCTIONAL FEATURES OF THE CHRONOTOPE (SPATIAL CONFIGURATION) IN RUSSIAN AND UZBEK LITERARY STUDIES

This article offers a comparative analysis of the artistic and functional features of the chronotope in Russian and Uzbek literary studies. Based on the scholarly legacy of M.M. Bakhtin, it examines the assimilation and development of this concept in both traditions. The chronotope is interpreted as a category expressing the unity of time and space in literary works, and its role in composition, character formation, plot development, and the disclosure of ideological and aesthetic content is explored in relation to national mentality, cultural traditions, and historical memory. The study also addresses methodological challenges related to the relatively late introduction and adaptation of chronotope theory in Uzbek literary studies.
